GIOVANNA CIPRIANI

Giovanna Cipriani is an award-winning photographer, journalist, and documentary filmmaker whose work has been shaped by a life spent witnessing history firsthand. Born in Venice and now living between Venice and London, Giovanna’s path began with photography at an early age, when her father gifted her a Canon camera and sparked a lifelong instinct to observe, document, and tell stories through images.
After graduating from the Law School of Bologna, Giovanna turned fully toward journalism, earning her journalism degree in 1992 and later passing the State exam to become a professional journalist. She went on to build a remarkable career with Rai TV, where she worked as a correspondent and eventually became Bureau Chief for Foreign Affairs for Rai Channel 2. Along the way, she also served as a news anchor and hosted the successful talk show XII Round, later syndicated in the United States as The Ring.
She anchored the news and was both author and anchor for the very successful talk show, XII Round, which she syndicated in the USA as The Ring. During her years at Rai, Giovanna continued her passion for photography, taking pictures of the many events she had the opportunity to witness.
She published her pictures through agencies like Outline and major Italian magazines. As a correspondent and anchor for the news, she interviewed many of the world leaders: Yasser Arafar, Tareq Aziz, Pervez Musharraf, SaliBerish, Fernana Henrique Cardoso, Giovanni Agnelli, among others, when they were at the height of their prominence. More recently, she has done a series of exhibitions connecting art and photography. She has worked on a series of six stories about the "Forgotten People" of the world; the ones whose lives are never heard. The Stories were published by The Independent on Sunday. Since 2020 she has directed and produced the documentary "Shahad" on life after ISIS in camps in Northern Iraq.
Shahad has won several Film Festivals including but not limited to: Black Cat Award International Film Festival, Kosice International Film Festival, and Docs Without Borders Film Festival.
